Kyomya Sponsorship Project

If you could give a child:

An education
School supplies
Uniforms
Clothing
Medicine
A chance to thrive

For only $1.16 a day, would you?

The Kyomya Sponsorship Program is set to provide schools fees, uniforms, supplies, as well as food and everday essentials to the orphans of Kyomya through the aid of sponsors. By sponsoring a child for $35 a month, these children can acheive the skills to combat the effects of HIV/AIDS in Kyomya, and receive the gift of a lifetime.

Kyomya village is located approximately 12 kms from Jinja town. Jinja is the second largest town in Uganda and is the town where electricity is generated. Kyomya is approximately 120kms from Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

Kyomya village has a population of about 24,000 people with 56% being women and 44% men. 60% of the population are children.

The people depend on subsistance farming with less than 2 acres of land. The area lacks basic social services such as: schools, health centers, shops, water points and roads, as it is deep in the rural country side. Rarely will any government agent come, and there is no NGO/CBO helping the people.

With the entry of HIV/AIDS in the area about 20 years ago, the village is on the verge of collapse with very many orphans, widows and abandoned children. The Infection rate is apx. 12-13% higher than the Uganda average of 10- 12%.

These orphans need basic education, healthcare, clothings, shelter, water, and food for survival. It's on this background that the Kyomya community development project has been initiated by David Sabiiti Kibagoo in order for: friends, partners, corporate agencies, individual families, and donor agencies to come to the rescue of these orphaned children.
